Staff of Hume Employment Service attended the The Australia Jobs and Skills Expo held at Shepparton in November.

A total of 78 exhibitors attended with over 749 job and training opportunities across a wide range of industries. Approximately 1200 Job Seekers attended the event keen to explore their options with employment and training providers. There was a clear message of the day, being that if you wish to find work or alternatively study courses there was a huge source of information and resources available across a range of areas.

Other representatives included the Federal and Victorian Police Force, Defence Force, Rumbalara, Vision Australia, Retirement Homes, BAE Systems, SPC-Campbells, Rural Jobs Australia, VECCI, VIC Health as well as local businesses including Solar City Tyres, Shepparton Villages, Greenhams Meat Processors, and Bega Cheese.

Based on the feedback from exhibitors, approximately 350 Job Seekers will be placed in a job or training as a direct result of the Expo. In addition to this, many of the positions that were placed on the jobs board by companies that were unable to attend the expo are expected to be filled.

Both Centrelink and DEEWR had many representatives at hand to assist and liaise with exhibitors and Job Seekers to make the day a success.
